Rockwood, Friedrich, Cantrell Visit!

How lucky are we that we got a visit from 3 of my sisters-in-law and 7 of my nephews nieces! We felt super lucky, especially since Altus isn't exactly a tourist destination. We were so happy to have them though and made the very best of the lack of things to do. They got here late Friday but we had our homemade pizza waiting for them so we could include them in our Pizza, Ice Cream, Movie tradition.

Day 1 we decided we would stay in Altus and do ALL of the fun things Altus has to offer! First we went to the movie theater and watched the second Lego Movie and then we were out of fun things to do, haha! We thought we'd take a chance on the local museum. Did it pay off? No, not really, but the kids managed to give the lady running the museum an anxiety attack and they broke a water pump! Yes, we know how to leave an impression ;P

After the museum we went to the base.

We ended our day with dinner at Fred's and then home for a movie and ice cream.

Day 2 we went on a hike!

It was a coldish, windy day but it actually ended up being a perfect day for a hike!

Awww, the sibs!

It was a quick visit that we so looked forward and were sad to see them go. Hopefully, they will all make it back this summer when Rich is finished with our backyard makeover.

The Wojos

When we were making our list of places we would like to be stationed we prayed and prayed for a place where our kids would be happy. A place where they would thrive and where we could grow as individuals and as a family. We certainly didn't think Altus was that place but the last 6 months have proven us completely wrong. We have been SO HAPPY! A huge part of our happiness has been the Wojnowski family, or as we like to call them, the Wojos.

The Wojos are in our church ward here and their kids go to the same school as our kids. Never before has every single one of our kids meshed so well with every single one of the kids in another family! They all love being together and beg to go to each others house every day! Not only do the kids get along super well but Rich and Matt and Rebecca and I have loved hanging out too! We are so sad that they will be moving next week but this family friendship will last a lifetime and is worth documenting.

Since we started hanging out we have spent every FHE together at their house...

and every Pizza, Ice Cream, Movie Night at out house.

A few weeks ago, we caravaned down to Lubbock to go to the temple. Aidan did baptisms for the first time!

How quickly they became like family. The girls enjoyed their first non-cousin sleepovers.

Rebecca watched the big kids several times when we were making several trips to OKC for Eva's surgery and wound care. When she heard I had 2 sick kids it took her no time at all to be at my door with treats for my girls AND me!

The next 3-4 years in Altus would have been the absolute best if they were sticking around but that's just not the way it worked out. We are so grateful to have met them and we all have lifelong friends for sure. We will miss you, Wojos!
