Flight failure

A couple months ago Rich came home from work and told me he booked tickets to fly to Tokyo for Christmas. I was surprised but I’m always game for a trip. We decided we would wait to tell the kids and  didn’t tell them until the night before. They didn’t believe us at first but once they caught on that we weren’t kidding, they were so excited!

We headed out to catch our 11:30 flight. We were all so excited boarding the plane.

Once seated we taxied out and then the pilot announced there were some issues. He was hard to understand but basically said there would be a delay. We sat for about an hour when the pilot came on the speaker again and announced that our flight would be canceled. We were one sad bunch of passengers! I won’t go into all of the crazy details and hoops we had to jump through but by some miracle Rich was able to secure us seats on the 7:30pm flight. This gave us a few hours to kill in Naha. I have to say, it ended up being a really awesome few hours. We drove to this tiny ramen place and ate the best ramen we had ever eaten, which is saying a lot because we’ve had a lot of ramen!

Then, we walked to this Chinese garden that was nearby.

The kids were so excited about all of the red ear sliders in the pond.

I was excited about all of the beautiful places to take pictures! The kids were in travel clothes but I’ve decided that we will come back and do a full out photo shoot.

We had fun!
It was time to go back to the airport and try again.
