Valentine’s…

Oh holidays. I love you and yet you throw such a wrench into my barely manageable routine. I wish I was an organized ball of energy and could do it all. Maybe some day. So, this year I was super excited about Valentine’s Day for Aidan because he’s in school and would be able to hand out valentines to his little classmates.

Here is Aidan’s Valentine

I love it!! So much in fact that I decided to go ahead and do the same thing for Maya and Arabella’s valentine’s this year.

I took the girls to the park on Valentine’s Day where they handed valentines out to all of their friends at a party.

My Valentine got me something unexpected. An IPHONE! I resisted for a long time because I thought it would be a distraction when I’m out with the kids and should be focusing on them. It has been the opposite. I actually spend a lot less time on my laptop because I get regular notification on my phone. I love that I have a great way to take pics of my kids and quickly and easily post them to facebook. I love that I have Pandora every where I go. I just love, love, love it!

Some friends took us out to a super fancy French restaurant for Valentine’s day. It was so much fun experiencing new foods with great friends.

Great friends, Scarlett and Rusty. Love them!

Time for the food! I had escargot (snail) for the first time. I actually really liked it! I would definitely eat it again. Then, Rich ordered the lamb shank. It was HEAVEN!!!

I ordered the duck, also a first for me. Yum!

That dinner was one of the most enjoyable, exciting dining experiences we’ve ever had. It was a really great Valentine’s Day.

My Honey’s 1st Marathon!

I hate getting back blogged so I’m desperately trying to play catch-up with all of the important events. One of the most important is Rich’s Marathon!!
DSC_5158
He just ran it on Sunday and did such a great job! Now he can add one more run to his growing list of events.  I’m so proud of him! He has been training so hard and overcoming setbacks to run this marathon and HE DID IT!! I’m so annoyed with myself that I though I had hit record on my phone but apparently didn’t so I didn’t get him actually running:( The good news is that I was there, I got to see him AND I took pictures after:D
During the race, waiting for daddy.

Sadly, this is the only picture of him actually running.

Poor guy was so exhausted by the end, this was the only pose I got. He pretty well collapsed after this one.
(Overexposed pic and I’m too lazy to fix it. Sorry.)

He told me that the only thing that kept him going during the run was the idea of throwing himself into the ocean when he was done…he did just that.

Meanwhile, the kids played.

After his little soak in the ocean he slowly regained strength enough to give me a smile.

I have to mention that I’m ecstatic to get my husband back. It’s been a lot of sacrificing for him to train for this marathon.
Love him. He is AMAZING.

A Time To Blog…

I think that it is finally a time to blog. I don’t know what has been going on with my world but apparently it just decided to turn against me for the past few weeks. I’ve been so overwhelmed with never ending ER and doctors visits that blogging seemed pointless since it would have been complaining, whining, and a whole lot of feeling sorry for myself. We all have those times in our lives, right?

This weekend we had a BIG scare. Aidan has been complaining of headaches daily for the past couple of months. I brushed it off as a dehydration thing and just pushed water on him constantly. Then he started complaining about being tired all of the time. Miss. Michelle even mentioned that she noticed he was tired a lot. Well, finally, on Saturday Rich and I decided that we should take him in to see his doctor thinking that he might be anemic. Rich took him in, in the morning and called me to tell me that Aidan was really sleepy and it was 9am!! BTW my kids go to bed at 7-7:30ish, so they definitely get enough sleep. Moving on, Aidan was seen by the doctor who showed a lot of concern and wanted to do a complete blood workup and a cat scan. A CAT SCAN!?!? Yikes! Of course, being me, I automatically assumed the worst. I mean, what else can you assume when your doctor shows concern and then orders a cat scan? Ok, bad news…it’s Saturday! Labs are closed so we would have to wait until Monday! I just couldn’t not know for 2 whole days so Rich took him to the ER. After hearing the symptoms they too ordered a blood workup and a cat scan. Let me just say, we were there for 5 long hours, basically all of Saturday was suspense and stress. Labs came back…………………negative. He is NOT anemic. This was devastating news to me because in my mind that was the lesser of many evils. I wanted it to be anemia so that we could all go home *dust off my hands* give him iron supplements and be done with it. No such luck:( The technician that took us in to get the cat scan asked what his symptoms were and as I was describing them he was shaking his head and making “mmm” and “eeee” sound effects. Not reassuring. The cat scan was done and we waited an hour for the results. The doctor came in and said, “The cat scan came back clear except for a sinus infection.” A sinus infection? A Sinus Infection!?!? A SINUS INFECTION!!!!!!!!!!! HALELUJAH MY SON HAS A SINUS INFECTION!!! I will take it! I’ll tell you what, I’ve never been so happy to hear about a sinus infection in my entire life!!!

Finally taking the IV out. He was so excited!

Since Saturday, Aidan has been on an antibiotic and saline spray (which he hates) and I am noticing such a huge difference. He rarely complains of a headache and hasn’t mentioned being tired. I feel like I was given the most amazing gift ever. The hospital we went to was the same hospital Arabella was in the NICU and where both Aidan and Arabella had all of their surgeries. All I could think, again thinking the worst because that’s what I do, was do I really have to do this again? Will I be a regular here once again? Thank heavens the answer is no:D I think that little reminders of what we have in life are a good thing.

What’s that? You want to go to Chick-fil-a after our 5 hour long ordeal? HECK YEAH!

P.S. Aidan has been cracking me up with his outfits of choice, lately. I pretty much let him pick out his clothes every day unless he really doesn’t care what he wears. The past couple of days he knew exactly what he wanted to wear:D

This was today…

And here he is with his best bud, Tadeo, who also LOVES Toy Story.

Yummy Aidan

Aidan’s teacher, Miss. Michelle, told me the funniest thing yesterday. I don’t remember the exact context of the comment but she told me that she said to Aidan:
“Aidan, I just want to eat you up!”
She said that the look of FEAR in his eyes was priceless! And that he just shrieked, “NOOOOO!”.  So funny how literal little kids can take things.

Is This A Joke?

This week…WOW. I mean, I know it could always be worse but my gosh, what a week! Last Friday, Arabella caught croup. Rich and I spent our date night in the ER with her getting shots and breathing treatments.

Ok, so no biggie. That’s life, right? Kids get sick! Well, after 1 urgent care visit, 1 ER visit and 3 doctors visits, I am sooooo done with it all. In the beginning I was cool about it all but about halfway through the week it just started to feel like someone was playing a sick joke on me. So, finally the kids are healthy, for the most part, and I am ready for a fresh start next week.

What Are You Feeling?

Aidan’s new favorite video as of this morning. He wanted to watch it over and over and over again.

Jesus Wants Maya For A Sunbeam!

I feel so lame for taking so long to post that Maya is a Sunbeam! She has graduated from Nursery and is now a “big girl”.  Her transition was a lot smoother than Aidan’s because she has such an easy going personality. It was so cool to see her for the very 1st time in primary and the really cool part about it was that she got to make the transition with her cousin, Danny, while we were visiting family in Missouri.
Maya is in the front row sitting next to Danny and then in the row behind her from left to right is cousin, Luke then teacher and then cousin Josy and then Aidan. How fun to transition to a new class with a bunch cousins!

Here she is in our home ward here in Davie. She is sitting next to her lifelong friend, Ella. They have literally been friends since birth. Ella is 3 months older and is the daughter of my BFF, Lucy. Adorable girlies!

It’s pretty weird how quickly life is changing. In just 2 years I’ve gone from having Aidan & Maya in Nursery together to having them in Primary together. Its fun and sad. They really do grow up too fast.

Light At The End Of The Tunnel

I’m gonna keep the pity party short and sweet cuz I don’t think everybody wants to know my business but since this IS my blog to document my life I shall let the pity party begin. My hair was falling out:( I’ve been taking Celexa for depression for the past 4 months and finally put 2 and 2 together. Needless to say, the second I realized it was causing my hair to fall out I started weaning off of it and that is when the nightmare began. WITHDRAWAL. What a miserable, horrible thing it has been. 6 days of feeling dizzy & nauseous topped off with a pounding headache. It was so debilitating. The good news is that today was the 1st day I could actually function without wanting to just die! The other good news is that so far there are no signs or symptoms of depression. I know it might be too early to tell and I’m being very realistic but wouldn’t it be AWESOME if it was gone? It’s so annoying!

I’m so happy to be past that horrible sickness that is withdrawal:)

In other news, we were invited to one of Aidan’s classmates birthday party. The kids had so much fun!

The photographer at the party was so nice. When he saw my camera he started talking to me about photography and then offered to teach me a few things! Turned out he was actually the owner of the kids club where the party was being held and photography was just his hobby. I’m hoping to swing by sometime soon to learn a thing or two about photoshop. Ok, blah blah blah enough about me and back to some party pics.
