My big girl got a hair cut! Oh, it took 2 1/2 years of serious convincing from Rich but I finally gave in and I’m so happy I did. I love her new cut but more importantly, Maya can see! Love it!

After her new do we had a little photo shoot:D

What a week!

DSC_0532

Turns out that my Bad Day post was just the beginning of it. Not exactly sure why but it was an interesting week. Everything just seemed off. I’m glad it’s over and I’m really looking forward to starting a new week. The good news is that I am feeling much more positive. I was asked to speak in church tomorrow and even though it has added to my stress level this week I am grateful for the many light bulbs that came on while preparing my talk.

I have a lot to update from this past week and a few pics to share as well. I’ll definitely have to get to that later. It’s late. Time for bed:D

Bad Day

I had a bad day today. You know, those days when you feel like everything and everybody is out to get you? Kids were grouchy which made me grouchy. We had a cold front come in which was actually nice around noon, then it just got crazy cold. We went for a walk on a trail that we had never been on. Maya stuck her hand in a HUGE ant pile then started screaming because the ants were trying to eat her hand off! Rich stayed nice and calm and started swatting/brushing them off while I screamed hysterically at the sight of my baby girls hand covered in ants. I don’t think he’s ever going to let me live this one down so I might as well blog about how ridiculous I was. What can I say, it was my natural instinct. He had to tell me to stop screaming and help him take off her sweater. Then he said, “Ok honey, without screaming take off Maya’s pants. Don’t scream.” See, now it’s funny. At the time I really was freaking out. They were everywhere, biting her! She’s fine now:D

Let’s see…what other negative thing can I write about today? Oh yeah, I was asked to speak next Sunday. Hopefully I’ll be more positive by then. We decided that today would be a good day to go to our favorite restaurant. So we did. I blogged about Alegria Tacos a few months ago. Ever since we discovered it, we just can’t get enough. The only problem is it is literally a little hole in the wall place with all of 2 tables and a total of 5 seats. There is NO WAY we could ever go there to eat with our kids. Wanna know what we do when we are dying for Alegria Tacos? I’ll tell you. We call in our order as we are driving there. Park. I go in and get our yummy food and we eat it in the van while the kids watch a movie. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Today was a desperate time. They cheered me up a bit.

Ok, enough with the negativity. I’ll tell you the one person that was amazing today. Rich. Love him! He brightens my day…

And, this picture I took yesterday also brightens my day.

The photography thing…

I am LOVING my Christmas present soooooo much but I’ve gotta say, IT’S A LOT OF WORK!! There is so much to learn! I’ve had my Nikon D90 for almost a month and I just don’t think I’ll ever master it, but dog-gonnit(is that how you would spell that?) I’m gonna try. I am working really hard on learning how to shoot in manual mode and I feel like I get better every day. I have a couple of friends that are photographers and as I’ve been working to learn how to take pictures I admire their work so much more.

Well, we went to the park last night and I got a few really good shots of Arabella and I thought it would be fun to play around with editing. Mind you, I’m still learning. Which one is your favorite? What would you change?

Moments…

Tonight, I had a special moment with my baby. She is an angel. There is a unique sweetness to her. I mentioned in her birthday post  how much I love & look forward to the time that I share with her when I am putting her to bed. I always spend a couple minutes rocking her and humming our special song. I think she loves it as much as I do. Every night is special but tonight was EXTRA special. As I was rocking her she looked up at me and leaned her sweet little face into mine for a kiss. Then, she put her head back down on my shoulder. A few seconds later she did it again. There was something so special about it. I could feel her love.  I’m telling you, this girl knows what love is and knows how to show it.

Every child has something special about them. I love discovering these things about my kids. While we were in Missouri, Arabella ate very little. Very little food=grouchy baby. I was stressed and worried the whole time. I couldn’t figure out why she wouldn’t eat! One day, while at my mom’s house, I could tell she was hungry so I put her in the highchair to feed her. I got some food that I knew she would love and just as I was about to feed her, the back door flew open and in came 4 screaming kids (Aidan,Maya,Josy,Danny). She immediately started screaming and refused to eat. LIGHT BULB! She does not like stress. The day we got home to Florida she started eating like normal.

Arabella is my sweet & sensitive child. If it means I get to have moments like tonight…I’ll take it!

Happy Ending-New Beginning

So here we are, mid January and I’m finally making my end of 2010 post. Yeah, we’ve been a little busy. We are finally back home in Florida after a 3 week visit to Missouri. It was memorable…in a good way:D I will always remember the day that I spent with my mom and my sister shopping. We spent waaaay too much money, laughed waaaay too hard and then ended the fun day with a quick run to Freddy’s for some steak burgers. Yum! Another memory from this trip that is more like a childhood memory is my momma’s cooking. WOW can that woman cook! Seriously, she makes the most delicious food I’ve ever had. Needless to say, Rich & I gained a few pounds.

At the Baker’s home we made some great memories too. I will always remember making fun of my mother-in-law (mom) for not liking the salmon we made for her. I will also remember how fun it was going to have lunch with mom at her school. She is a 4th grade teacher. Her students were so excited to see her grandkids and Aidan & Maya thought all of the big kids were the coolest. One of my favorite parts of this trip was going to see Rich’s dad working on Julie’s (Rich’s sister) house. My father-in-law is one of the best plumbers in the world. He installs plumbing in homes that are being built and after seeing him work I can say that he is extremely gifted.

We had a lot to celebrate while we were in Missouri and the parties were great but it’s all of the little things that I will remember and cherish the most.

Rich and I had a very memorable moment when we first got to Missouri. Rich got an important call. It was a call that we had been waiting for and hoping to hear good news. The call came in and the news was good.

Rich got the Air Force scholarship!!!!!!! This scholarship means so much more to us that it probably does to many others. This scholarship has determined at least the next 25 years of our lives. We had decided that if we got the scholarship we would do military as a career and so, it has been decided. My husband is going to be a Pharmacist in the Air Force! We are so excited to see what the future holds for us. What adventures are in store? We shall see!

I am about to make a serious understatement but here goes…What an AMAZING year 2010 was! Countless blessings rained down on me and my loved ones. I can only hope for such an incredible year in 2011.

Happy Holidays-Vacation

Fun, fun, fun. Busy, busy, busy. That is the best way to describe the past couple of weeks in good ol’ Missouri. We have been house hopping from my mom’s house to my in-laws house which means we’ve enjoyed twice the parties and food.  The kids are REALLY had fun playing/fighting with all of their cousins. Aidan has picked up a few bad habits which I’m sure he will teach his little buddies back in Florida.

Christmas was great! We all loved our gifts but the best of all was mine:D I got a new camera that I don’t have a clue how to use but I’m so excited to learn! Here are a few pics that I’ve taken during our little vacation. Don’t judge me too harshly. I’m still shooting in auto;)
